Girl getting a massage
Getting a massage is probably one of the best therapies out there! Massages are great for not only for inducing feelings of relaxation but also for pain relief. With your body and mind constantly functioning, tension builds up in your muscles. Once you get rid of this tension, there’s no holding you back! Apart from the obvious physical benefits, massage therapy is also great for your emotional health.

Here’s how massage therapy is amazing for your emotional and mental well-being.

  • 1) Induces Relaxation
Tension builds up in your muscles over time. Massage therapy helps induce your body in a state of relaxation. Lying down on the massage table will cause you to let go of any thoughts and worries you have, causing your mind to enter a state of relaxation and pure bliss.

  • 2) Reduces Stress and Anxiety
Stress and anxiety can have some serious consequences on your health. A vast majority of us go through stressful events in our daily lives. Massage therapy induces relaxation that changes your overall body. It helps reduce the causes and symptoms that result due to stress and anxiety. Getting a massage also activates your body’s sympathetic nervous system, which reduces anxiety. As per a research study, massage therapy reduces the stress hormone, which is referred to as cortisol, by at least 53%.

  • 3) Helps Combat Depression
Massage therapy improves your overall mood by releasing happy hormones in your body. It is great for alleviating feelings of depressions in individuals. The production of hormones like endorphins, serotonin, and dopamine reduce depression.

  • 4) Improves Focus and Concentration
Stress can cause pressure on your body and your emotional well-being that leads to lower concentration levels and reduced focus. Since massage therapy induces calm and relaxing feelings, it enables you to become more focused. It increases your concentration levels, making your mind more creative and productive.

  • 5) Enhances Energy and Alertness
Getting a massage will help with body rejuvenation. This will help renew your depleting energy levels. It will also result in improved sleep. Since you’ll be well-rested, your brain will become more alert.

  • 6) Improves Overall Mood
Massage therapy leads to the release of chemical hormones such as endorphins and serotonin in your bloodstream. These chemicals improve your overall mood. Getting a massage also stimulates pain blockers and lessens feelings related to pain.

  • 7) Brings Sense of Peace and Self-Awareness
Oftentimes, we find ourselves extremely engrossed in our daily lives. This makes us lose the connection between our bodies and our minds. Massage therapy helps get rid of any tension that you may not have even noticed. Massage makes you more aware of the areas of stiffness. Additionally, your mind might be cluttered with a lot of thoughts and worries. Meditating during massage therapy can help isolate important thoughts from the insignificant ones.

Well, since massage therapy has so many physical, mental and emotional benefits, what are you waiting for? Book a massage appointment today and relax!

Girl holding leaves near her face
Do you dream of having clear skin? Do your acne problems get in between? Well, don’t we all want acne and blemish-free skin? Even if your skin is not acne-prone, you’re still not safe from it. This is because of certain activities that we do that cause acne.

Here’s how you can reduce the chances of breakouts.

  • Keep your Face Clean
Whether you have acne or not, it’s crucial to wash your face. It is suggested that you wash your face at least twice a day to get rid of any impurities or dead skin cells. Washing your face also removes the extra oil present on the skin’s surface. The best option is to pair warm water with a mild facial cleanser to keep your skin uber-clean.

  • Know your Skin Type
All types of skin are susceptible to breakouts. However, oily skin tends to be the most pimple-prone skin. The root cause of this is the overproduction of oily sebum by your skin’s sebaceous glands.
Another skin type that is also prone to acne is combination skin – when you have both oily and dry areas. The pimples usually occur on the oiliest parts, which is your T-zone area. Being aware of your skin type is the key to choosing the perfect skincare products for your skin. This will help avoid breakouts in the future.

  • Keep yourself Well-Hydrated
Dehydration sends a signal to your skin’s oil glands to increase its production of oils. When your body is dehydrated, your skin can look very dull and inflamed. To maintain your hydration levels, consume at least eight glasses of water a day.

  • Don’t Use Too Much Makeup
Many people use makeup to cover up pimples, but what they don’t know is that they are making their condition worse. Using makeup clogs pores and tends to trigger outbreaks. We’re not saying don’t use makeup; just ensure that it’s not greasy or too heavy for your skin.

  • Don’t Touch your Face
With every surface you touch, the bacteria on your hands increase. Every time you touch your face, bacteria transfer onto your facial skin. Bacteria cause your pores to clog, which results in acne. Make it a habit to wash your hands before touching your face.

  • Try Taking Less Stress
Try indulging in stress-reducing activities. According to multiple research studies, stress isn’t the root cause of pimples; however, it does make them worse. When you feel stressed, your body increases its production of oil-stimulating hormones. This worsens your acne. Try activities like yoga, meditation, aromatherapy or massage.

  • Avoid Certain Foods
Your diet certainly is the root cause of many hair and skin problems. Consuming foods with high glycemic properties can cause serious acne. High glycemic foods include chips and baked goods that are made using white flour. They tend to spike blood sugar levels that can cause acne. Opt for healthy foods with antioxidant properties such as berries.

The bottom line is that breakouts can occur at any time. However, if you take certain precautionary measures, not only can you prevent breakouts, but you can also get gorgeous and glowing skin!

Health Benefits of Pedicures

Golden chairs in salon

Being a busy woman is not easy; it's difficult to find a balance between work and personal life. You may struggle to maintain your appearance while doing your job. When you get some time off at the end of the week, you should definitely get a pedicure. Remember that you’re not just indulging in luxury but rather something very important for your health.

Pedicures are an amazing way to provide the basic care that your feet require. It’s a cosmetic treatment for your feet and toenails to remain clean, and the foot massage at the end is just a must! Here are certain health benefits of getting pedicures.

Pedicures Help Preserve the Moisture
Your feet are soaked in warm water and are massaged with different oils and lotions. This helps keep the moisture of your feet intact. Moisturized feet reduce the likelihood of blisters. Your nail cuticles also need to remain moisturized to avoid them from growing out any ridges that may eventually cause the nail to rise from its nail bed.

Exfoliates Your Feet
Exfoliating your skin is extremely necessary. It removes the dead skin cells that are on the surface of your skin and gives way to new ones. It also prevents cells from stocking up and causing corns or bunions that can be very painful. Getting rid of dead skin promotes cell growth, giving you smoother and more attractive feet.

Promotes Blood Circulation
The best part about getting a pedicure is the much-needed massage. After a tiring week at work, a foot and calf massage can help you relieve stress. Massages improve blood circulation, helping relieve any tension that may exist in the calf and feet muscles. Increased blood circulation is also great for your body. It is also great for getting rid of any stiffness and improving one's well-being.

Relaxation
Pedicures are great for not only your feet but also your mind. A good pedicure is the key to relaxation. It not only helps relieve any stress and tension, but it is also delightfully therapeutic. The kind of de-stressing pedicures provides releases chemicals in your brain called endorphins. These endorphins help you remain calm and make you happy. They also help lower blood pressure and relieve pain.

Prevents Fungal Infections from Developing
Wearing closed shoes all day long can entrap moisture within them. This causes fungi to grow on your toenails and feet. It may take weeks to actually identify you have a fungal infection. However, your pedicurist will be able to recognize it during its initial stages. It can be very easily treated at this stage. Hence, getting pedicures will eliminate the risk of developing any such infections.

So, what are you waiting for? By getting pedicures, you’re doing your body a favor and giving your mind its much needed rest. Whether alone or with your girlfriends, book your pedicure appointment and pamper yourself!

4 Benefits of Getting Your Nails Done by a Professional

10/4/2019

Woman getting a manicure
It’s good to pamper yourself every once in a while. What’s a better way to do that than to get your nails done? It’s important to keep your nails clean and healthy. Due to a busy schedule, it can get pretty difficult to maintain your nails. Sure you can do your nails yourself at home, but where’s the fun in that? A better option would be to visit a nail salon for a relaxing manicure. Here are 4 benefits of getting your nails done by a professional.

1. Extra Services
Going to a professional to get your nails done is more comforting than doing them by yourself. When doing them at home, you don’t follow through all the steps that nail professionals do. Manicurists exfoliate and moisturize your hands. They also massage your hands and arms while giving a manicure, targeting all the pressure points. Not only do they shape, trim and buff your nails, but they also apply nail color skillfully upon request. At home, it can get pretty difficult to apply nail color neatly on both hands.

2. More Choices
Nail salons offer a huge variety of nail colors to choose from. Ranging from gold and silver tones to deep blues –they have it all. Nail salons also offer nail designing. You can make your hands look spectacular by getting your nails designed using jewels, glitter, stickers, etc. This way, your nails look like a work of art.

3. Expertise
Nail professionals have the necessary training, experience and equipment to ensure that your nails turn out great. Not only do most of us not have the necessary experience, but we also lack the required equipment to do our nails perfectly. These nail experts follow a step-by-step procedure, not only to make certain that your nails look pretty but also to ensure that they remain healthy and protected from fungi.

4. Relaxing
Probably the best reason to visit a nail salon rather than doing them yourself is that the experience at the salon is relaxing. At the end of a super-tiring week at work, you get some time to unwind and relax. It feels great to have someone give you special treatment and pamper you. When you’re doing your nails yourself, you may make mistakes, which you have to amend. However, with a nail professional, you don’t have to worry about any of that – you just have to sit back and relax!

Let’s face it – unless you have a steady hand, it can be very difficult to apply nail color equally and neatly. Sure, getting a professional manicure can be more costly than a DIY. But rather than considering this as an expense, think of it as an investment in yourself!
