Do you dream of having clear skin? Do your acne problems get in between? Well, don’t we all want acne and blemish-free skin? Even if your skin is not acne-prone, you’re still not safe from it. This is because of certain activities that we do that cause acne. 

Here’s how you can reduce the chances of breakouts.

  • Keep your Face Clean
Whether you have acne or not, it’s crucial to wash your face. It is suggested that you wash your face at least twice a day to get rid of any impurities or dead skin cells. Washing your face also removes the extra oil present on the skin’s surface. The best option is to pair warm water with a mild facial cleanser to keep your skin uber-clean. 

  • Know your Skin Type
All types of skin are susceptible to breakouts. However, oily skin tends to be the most pimple-prone skin. The root cause of this is the overproduction of oily sebum by your skin’s sebaceous glands. 
Another skin type that is also prone to acne is combination skin – when you have both oily and dry areas. The pimples usually occur on the oiliest parts, which is your T-zone area. Being aware of your skin type is the key to choosing the perfect skincare products for your skin. This will help avoid breakouts in the future. 

  • Keep yourself Well-Hydrated
Dehydration sends a signal to your skin’s oil glands to increase its production of oils. When your body is dehydrated, your skin can look very dull and inflamed. To maintain your hydration levels, consume at least eight glasses of water a day. 

  • Don’t Use Too Much Makeup
Many people use makeup to cover up pimples, but what they don’t know is that they are making their condition worse. Using makeup clogs pores and tends to trigger outbreaks. We’re not saying don’t use makeup; just ensure that it’s not greasy or too heavy for your skin. 

  • Don’t Touch your Face
With every surface you touch, the bacteria on your hands increase. Every time you touch your face, bacteria transfer onto your facial skin. Bacteria cause your pores to clog, which results in acne. Make it a habit to wash your hands before touching your face. 

  • Try Taking Less Stress
Try indulging in stress-reducing activities. According to multiple research studies, stress isn’t the root cause of pimples; however, it does make them worse. When you feel stressed, your body increases its production of oil-stimulating hormones. This worsens your acne. Try activities like yoga, meditation, aromatherapy or massage. 

  • Avoid Certain Foods
Your diet certainly is the root cause of many hair and skin problems. Consuming foods with high glycemic properties can cause serious acne. High glycemic foods include chips and baked goods that are made using white flour. They tend to spike blood sugar levels that can cause acne. Opt for healthy foods with antioxidant properties such as berries.

The bottom line is that breakouts can occur at any time. However, if you take certain precautionary measures, not only can you prevent breakouts, but you can also get gorgeous and glowing skin!
